Volunteer work at World of Wings

If you have already been to World of Wings, you will realise that there is an awful lot of work required in looking after all the birds at the Centre. In fact, if you own a pet, you will know how much time they take up – even the ones that are domesticated and self-sufficient. Our birds are rather different! They need daily care, they have special diets and they are not domesticated!
If you have only visited to see our flying demonstrations, you probably won’t appreciate how much work has to go on behind the scenes. Working at World of Wings is a lot like painting the Forth Rail bridge – it’s endless. There is always something to do, some bird needing particular attention, an aviary to clean, a bath to replace, scrubbing, pick up and more scrubbing. There’s some handling that might also need doing too, but that’s a little bit further down the line.
If you would like to volunteer at World of Wings, you need to be available at least one day a week, because our birds need to get to know you and that takes time and routine!
If you still want to get involved and get dirty, send an email telling us a litte bit about yourself. Write ‘Volunteer’ in the subject line and send it to info@worldofwings.co.uk – and let’s see what we can do.
